Worship is one way we express our love for God and give thanks to Him. In regular worship, God teaches us through his word, draws us closer to one another, and transforms our lives. All of our services incorporate music, scriptures, and occasional visual media. In all our worship services, you will hear God’s Word proclaimed and Jesus Christ lifted up as together we seek God’s presence in today’s world.
Sunday worship begins at 10:30am in the sanctuary.
Singing and music are an essential part of worship. Our music program shows depth of talent and a broad variety of music. Music of all styles, contemporary to traditional to classical, is included in our Sunday morning services. On Sunday evenings the youth band practices at 4pm and the choir practices 5pm.
We are located one block east of Hwy 5 on SW 4th Avenue, the third left turn south of the Wal-mart intersection.
Growing as a disciple of Christ is a life-long journey. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been a Christian for a few months or for 50 years, each of us has a next step to take as we grow more like Jesus. The Discipleship Pathway provides numerous opportunities to take your next step on the journey as we worship, grow and serve together.

Life Groups & Studies
Life Groups are a framework for a life in community. Life Groups meet in homes and share a meal, study and discuss God’s word, pray together and serve together in the community.
Throughout the year there are a variety of studies and classes to help you grow in your faith. Most of these studies meet for less than 10 weeks and cover a specific subject material.
The prayer team of the church meets regularly to pray for needs in the community, world and the friends and family of the church.
Jesus instructed his disciples to serve others. We are committed to living out our faith through the discipline of regular service. Opportunities exist to serve regularly in the church, the community and around the world.

We actively support the work of the church throughout the world in developing new congregations, responding to natural disaster, providing clean drinking water, fighting malaria and much more. Opportunities exist to travel and serve around Missouri, the nation and the world.
We value each child and family that comes to Ava UMC. Sundays, Wednesdays and special events provide a place where kids, infant through 4th grade, can experience God as they grow in the church. Every child is created to have a relationship with God and with unique talents and abilities to influence their world and community.
We recognize that no one has more influence over a child than his or her parent. Because of this, we believe that:
- What happens at home is more important than what happens at church.
- We are committed to partnering with parents by providing a plan that will give them the tools they need to support their kids spiritually.
We look forward to meeting your family. Please feel free to contact us at anytime with questions or suggestions.
On Sunday mornings children have the opportunity to learn about God, worship and create in age-appropriate ways. Children are released from worship to attend Children’s Church prior to the morning message. You will be able to pick your child up after worship in the education building.
Wednesday nights children get to study the Bible while parents and youth have small group classes. Stories, games, crafts and more in a fun format. Nursery care for kids under 2, 2-3 year old class, and a mixed age group through 4th grade.
Youth ministry exists to help teenagers connect, grow and worship as disciples of Jesus Christ. We love teenagers and hope that students will connect to Christ, one another and adults who genuinely care about their lives. Following Jesus is focused on others so we hope that teens will get their friends involved and be active inside and outside the church. That’s what it means to grow as a disciple. Faith is a journey and all of us are taking steps to grow in knowledge, love and service to the world. When teens fall in love with Jesus worship becomes a daily activity, not just something that happens on Sunday mornings.
Wednesday Small Groups
Wednesday nights the youth meet for small groups from 6:30-7:30pm. Middle school and high school students have their own tables to talk about the teaching of the night. Some weeks the groups split into guys and girls groups as well or join with adult tables.
Sunday nights middle school and high school students meet from 6-7:30pm to worship, connect and grow. There’s always a fun game and a chance to talk about our faith.
